As Christians, how can we be a part of culture while still making sure it's not doing more to influence us than we are to influence it?

God created community to be a place where brokenness is shared, pain is held, vulnerability is rediscovered, life is spoken, chains are broken, and belonging is found.  But that will only happen if we slow down and show up.

Hume Lake holds a special place in my heart and I’m incredibly thankful for all the work God has done and will continue to do there.

Unfortunately it’s much easier to recognize a spiritual attack once it’s subsided.  Satan is most successful when he can paralyze us, yet blind us to the possibility of thinking it could be him who’s at work.

It’s so easy to get caught up with those around us, using them as our measuring sticks telling us where we should be in life, or who we should be in life.

The irony is that when we hold happiness as the standard for relationships, we’re left empty.  But when we view holiness as the ultimate goal, we gain as a byproduct more than happiness; we gain a deep joy that abides independent of our circumstances.

When you get past the exchange of information and the need-to-knows, and you get down into the things that matter, into the hopes and fears and worries and excitements.  That’s when you get down into the heart places.

Scarcity simply isn’t true with an infinite God, and only when we know that we’re enough in Him are we freed to give freely to others, to lift them up.
